Meet Ron

Dallas native Ronald “Ron” Johnson is a farmer at Bonton Farms. His kind spirit and work ethic are immediately obvious upon meeting him. Ron and his wife Ramona have four children.

Ron’s path to Bonton Farms was not easy. Raised by his grandmother, Ron’s understanding of manhood came from the male role models he found on streets. After early exposure to drug use and petty crime, he inevitably found himself involved in the same activities––a lifestyle that plagued much of his early adulthood. In 2020, he was given an opportunity to participate in the recovery program at Men of Nehemiah where he was finally able to face how his choices were affecting his son. He vowed to make big changes.

Ron attributes his relationship with God along with the supportive relationships he’s gained through his time at Men of Nehemiah and Bonton Farms as foundational to his healing journey. Each day, Ron makes a conscious effort to not only nurture the valuable relationships he’s built but to create safe, supportive spaces for others who may be at risk for recidivism.

Through his work and by sharing his story, Ron hopes to help break the cycles of incarceration that exist within his own family as well as his community at large.
